Andover Farmers’ Market – use it or lose it
As you may have read
or heard in the media, thanks to an intervention by Test Valley
Borough Council, the farmer’s market in Andover has won a reprieve and
will continue in the town for the next six months.
The markets will continue in a mini market format offering a
wonderful range and selection of staple local produce. Visitors will
continue to find Hampshire meat, fish, bread, cheese, wine and many
different cakes and bakes. After six
months the popularity of
the markets will be assessed to see if a continued presence in the
town is economically viable for the producers.

LEAF Funding
The government has just announced a
£10 million funding pot
called LEAF (Local Energy Assessment
Fund). This funding is open to
community groups and parish councils
but needs to be spent by 31st
March 2012.
DECC describes the fund as being
designed to help communities to
accelerate their activity on energy
and climate change. It can pay for:
●
energy surveys of buildings
● energy
saving demonstration projects
(exemplar homes or community spaces)
● workshops
to help local people take action to
save energy
● reports
on what more needs to be done in
your area (in the way of energy
efficiency)
● engagement
events ahead of the above studies to
generate interest
Where the above has already been
done the funding may be able to
facilitate:
● area-wide
renewable energy studies (to see
what would work)
● feasibility
studies into specific renewable
energy projects
The money is not available for
installing technologies which would
benefit from Feed in Tariffs or the
Renewable Heat Incentive, but could
be used for studies into whether
those technologies would be
suitable.

further information.

If your Parish is in a position to
bid for this funding, National
Energy Foundation (NEF) may be able
to offer some professional support
to help your bid succeed. If your
outline proposal clearly has good
potential, NEF could help you
strengthen it. The cost of this
professional support will then be
built into your bid and paid for
only in the event of your bid being
successful. Outline proposals (one
side of A4) should be sent to
